Location:

16th de Septiembre near Colon

Entry: Came through unlocked front door at the house I was visiting.
Deterrents: Bars on Window
Future Deterrents: Wasn't my home, but owner realizes that doors must be locked at all times now.
Amount Stolen: $320 cash and $20 calculator.
Description:

I was visiting a friend.  I put my purse down on the sofa in the living room and went onto a patio at the rear of the house with the homeowner and one other person.  The homeowner had not closed/locked the front door after my arrival. While out on the patio, someone entered through the front door and took the wallet out of my purse and left with it.
The next morning a call was received at the Lake Chapala Society from the person who found my wallet lying in the street at Rancho del Oro, several miles from where it was taken. The wallet was recovered with my driver's license and some membership cards, but the cash and wallet calculator were gone.
