Description: At about 1:45 today, while walking home from a meeting at the Wilkes Center along Camino Real, I was approached by two young men who had been crouched behind the rock wall that runs down the center of the street. One held a knife towards my face and demanded my money. Before I could react in any way, he grabbed the large shoulder bag I was carrying and ran across the street where he and his accomplice jumped over a large gate that lead to a vacant lot. And as additional information/warning, I believe they had a third young guy working with them. He was on a bicycle and stayed around afterwards watching me. I'm speculating he might have been assigned to see where I returned home, because they took, as well as my wallet of course, a full set of door keys to our home.

I did return home and called our wonderful rental agent, who coordinated the police and a translator to meet us. The police arrived quickly and were very professional and helpful. Two of them went over the same gate to see if the bag had been left behind. They located it along with the less valuable contents and returned it to me. So they got "several" pesos and a set of house keys and left the rest. House locks are being changed this afternoon.
