Salvadors Restaurant - Purse Stolen

Type: Theft of Personal Property - Purse
Date: November 12, 2011 1 pm
Reported by:

Friend

Location: Salvador's Restaurant, outdoor dining tables - Ajijic Plaza Bugamvilla
Amount Stolen: approximately $1,100
Amount Recovered: Partial - Next day someone called her saying they had found her purse in WalMart parking lot. No cash, but yes keys, id.
Description:

Large group of about 11 people having lunch on the Sal's patio. My friend and I had our backs to parking lot. Someone spilled a drink. There was commotion.

Friend had a woven basket type bag with small leather purse containing cash, license, keys which was on the ground next to her feet and right next to my feet as well. We were crowded up together. We're guessing that during the spilled drink incident while we were distracted someone plucked the leather purse from the basket bag.

Amazingly no one at our table noticed anything. And we know she had the purse just a few minutes earlier as she reimbursed me for some shopping I had done.

Police Called: No
Ministerio Report: No
Comments This same friend had robbery at her home. She filed report with MInisterio and felt it to be a waste of her time. So no way is she going to file on this incident.
We all thought we were pretty careful with our belongings but this incident show how quickly someone can take advantage of opportunity to lift a purse, wallet. Best to carry bare minimum.
